Jeanne V. Botsford

Jeanne Botsford died in the care of hospice January 2, 2019 at home in Sandia Park. Jeanne was born in Chicago March 31, 1932. Jeanne has been cremated and a future memorial service is in planning stages. Moving from Chicago in 1945, she has lived in Glen Ellyn, Indianapol­is, Detroit, New Jersey, Long Island, Downers Grove, and on Little Lake Muskego, Wisconsin. She moved to New Mexico in 1968, lived in Las Cruces until 1997, when she and her husband of 48 years, Jim (Abby) Botsford, moved to the east mountains of Albuquerqu­e.

While in Las Cruces, Jeanne was Chapter Advisor to Alpha Chi Omega collegiate­s at NMSU, Las Cruces and active in the alumni group there where she was also a Province President in charge of three collegiate chapters in Colorado and two in New Mexico. Jeanne was installed in the Alpha Delta chapter while attending the University of Cincinnati in 1950. She also chaired the fifth Whole Enchilada Fiesta as well as three-year chairman of CrimeStopp­ers, Inc. She worked with her husband in their land surveying business for 23 years until they sold it and moved to the east mountain area of Albuquerqu­e. Jeanne also started her own business in 1976 named Blueprints and Maps until 1981 when she sold it to a local business. Being stricken with breast cancer in 1990, and a survivor, she worked with the American Cancer Society as chairman of five counties in the Reach to Recovery program. Jeanne was named the recipient of the Therese Laser award in 1996.

She was on the hospice board and participat­ed in the fund raising of LaPosada hospice house in Las Cruces. Jeanne was also a hospice. In Albuquerqu­e she joined the Assistance League of Albuquerqu­e where she chaired the Operation School Bell Gala, was Public Relations Chairman and worked in their thrift store regularly.

She is survived by her husband, Jim (Abby), six children Kim Greiner, son, and wife Sandie of Cape Coral, Florida. Kyle Theroux, daughter, and now deceased husband Russ Theroux of Albuquerqu­e. Kery Greiner, son and wife Jeane in Las Cruces. Kelly Greiner in Chicago. Kristi Greiner of Albuquerqu­e and Nicole Botsford Mestas, daughter and husband Tom of Los Ranchos. Jeanne’s daughters were all Alpha Chi Omega’s, initiated in Las Cruces in the Zeta Kappa Chapter at NMSU. Grandchild­ren are Kris, Mike, Aaron, Nick, Victoria, Tyler, Alexandria, Amanda, and Abagail. Great-grandkids Troy, Carmyn, Romian, James and Madeline Any memorial contributi­ons will be welcomed at Assistance League of Albuquerqu­e. A future service will take place at their Sandia Park home.
