What you need to know about San Diego State:

The Aztecs have plenty of firepower on offense and don’t mind pushing the pace. Murray and Ramos are the top scoring options, but four players average double-figure points and SDSU makes the most of a deep bench with plenty of height. San Diego State rebounds well, ranking second to UNM in rebound margin in the Mountain West. The Aztecs rank last, however, in turnover margin and average 16 giveaways per game. Defense has also been an issue as opponents are scoring 67.4 points per game, third worst in the MWC. Oñate High School alum Jayden Perez, a 5-foot-8 freshman guard, has appeared in 10 games and is averaging 2.1 points and 1.1 rebounds for the Aztecs.

What you need to know about New Mexico:

The Lobos put together a solid defensive effort in Saturday’s 70-58 win over Colorado State. But they’re understandably wary about San Diego State, which put up its season high in points in last season’s only meeting — a 97-89 SDSU victory in San Diego. Another shootout is likely between two uptempo teams but UNM’s defense has been muchimproved, and Bradbury’s team has the height to give SDSU trouble inside. Nunn fouled out of last season’s game in just 16 minutes of action but she could become a matchup problem for the Aztecs’ typical guard-heavy lineup. UNM hit 11 3-pointers against CSU, one off its season high. Washington was 5-for-8 from long range.
