Poets, former priest sign at Organic Books

AT ORGANIC BOOKS: Poets Merimee Moffit and Georgia Santa Maria will read poems about love and sign their books from 3 to 5 p.m. today.

Tom Schellenba­ch, a gay former Franciscan priest, will sign copies of his memoir, “The Book of Tom,” from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16.

AT BOOKWORKS: Christine Hickman will sign “Gnocchi Solo Gnocchi,” at 3 p.m. today.

A teacher, caterer and writer for more than 25 years, Hickman enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for food and cooking with her students, clients and readers.

Scott Wiggerman and David Meischen will present a free monthly poetry writing workshop at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, featuring writing prompts from their Wingbeats Anthologie­s.

Bookworks Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13. The club is free and open to the public. Reading selections for 2019 are to come.

Neill McKee will sign “Finding Myself in Borneo: Sojourns in Sabah” at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15. The book is an honest and buoyant chronicle of a young Canadian man’s adventures during 1968-70, while teaching secondary school as a CUSO volunteer in Sabah, Malaysia (northern Borneo). Travel with McKee on his unique journey through vibrant Asian cultures as he learns the craft of teaching, the Malay language and local customs, and gains many friends in his small community. He climbs the highest peak in Malaysia — Mount Kinabalu — has a love affair, and navigates Borneo’s backwaters to make his first of many documentar­y films.

AT THE GRIEF RESOURCE CENTER: There will be a signing of books on grief by Chandra Bales, Yvonne Williams Casaus, Patricia Conoway, Joyce Gilbert, Clarissa Hastings, Jacqueline Loring, Jonathan Miller, Trish Miller, Andi Penner, Ruth Pollard, Gail Rubin and Dan Wetmore from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 16. The authors will discuss how their books relate to grief or loss.
