Chief executive officer New Mexico Health Connections Albuquerque What do you consider to be the top issue or concern facing New Mexico today? Why?

Access to quality healthcare for all New Mexicans is my top concern because the foundations for healthy, economically viable, and thriving communities are built by investing in the health of individuals and families.

What do you consider to be the top accomplishment in the past 5 years in our state? Why?

Since the advent of the Affordable Care Act, New Mexico has significantly reduced its uninsured rate from 21 percent to 10 percent. In addition to helping people get access to care, this positive change has important ramifications for limiting cost increases and supporting the health of our communities.

What has inspired you or been the highlight of your Leadership New Mexico experience so far?

Through dialogue with leaders from a range of fields, I have been able to expand my awareness of the opportunities and challenges our state faces in a more integrated and solution-oriented way.
