Ex-UNM AD Krebs set for arraignment today

- JOURNAL AND WIRE REPORTS

Embattled former Lobo athletic director Paul Krebs is set for arraignment on five felony charges in District Court this morning.

Krebs is accused of “using his powers and resources of public office to obtain personal benefits or to pursue private interests,” according to a criminal complaint filed early this month by the Attorney General’s Office.

The charges against him — including fraud, money laundering and criminal solicitation — stem from a 2015 golf trip to Scotland paid for in part with UNM funds. And if convicted on all counts, Krebs, 62, faces up to 15 years in prison, according to the AG.

He is set for arraignment before state District Court Judge Stanley Whitaker.
