SUCCESSFUL HUNT FOR TALENT

Voices and dance moves were on display Sunday at the 2nd Annual New Mexico Black History Month Talent Hunt. Martin (Tino) Sherwood of Santa Fe’s Mandela Internatio­nal Magnet School was the overall winner, earning $1,000 for his dance number “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay.” Sherwood also secures a spot in a regional competitio­n.

The audience favorite award went to Jazel Morinia of Manzano High School, who sang “Waiting Game.”

The event was held at the UNM Continuing Education auditorium.
