Travel was top bucket list category
A national senior living company ranks Albuquerque as the 20th most popular domestic travel destination.
Albuquerque was nowhere near No. 1, but it did make the Top 20 of domestic travel destinations on Americans’ bucket lists in a short study compiled by a national senior living company.
Provision Living queried 2,000 people and found that 95 percent of U.S. residents have a bucket list and two-thirds plan to check out an item on it within the next year, according to a news release.
The top five bucket list cities to travel to were: 1. Honolulu, 2. New York, 3. Las Vegas, Nev., 4. Anchorage and 5. San Francisco.
Albuquerque clocked in at No. 20 just behind Chicago, San Diego, Orlando and Anaheim.
The top five international destinations were: 1. Australia, 2. Italy, 3. Ireland, 4. Japan and 5. United Kingdom.
Travel finished as the top bucket list category (77 percent), followed by financial (71 percent), personal development
(71 percent), family goals (67 percent), health (55 percent), hobby goals (47 percent), career goals (42 percent), spiritual development (40 percent) and volunteer-related goals (27 percent).
People on average are willing to spend an average of $3,081 on a bucket list item, with boomers at $3,204 and millennials at $2,959.
Survey participants’ top financial goals were paying down debt, paying off the mortgage, retiring early, saving for a child’s college tuition, giving to charity and buying a home, according to the release.
The top three specific experiences people were interested in were skydiving, winning the lottery and having children. Survey respondents also ranked their least desired as getting arrested, breaking a minor law and online dating.
