A couple accused in an apparent roadrage shooting on Valentine’s Day were arrested in Albuquerque on Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Albuquerque Police Department spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said Steven Lovato and Oneisha Herrera, both 22, were found near a police station in the southwest area of the city.

Detectives had been looking for the pair in connection with the shooting of 21-year-old Tanner Barnes on the morning of Feb. 14. Barnes is recovering from his injuries. He was struck in the back of the left leg, damaging an artery; the bullet then went in and out of his right leg.

“The officers serving on APD’s new Southwest Problem Response Team got a tip that the suspects were near the substation,” Gallegos said, and they were arrested without incident.

Police say Herrera was driving when Lovato leaned out of the vehicle to shoot Barnes as they headed south on Interstate 25 near the Martin Luther King Jr. exit.

Detectives locked onto the pair after a tipster reported that they were bragging about the shooting on Facebook.

Lovato faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, shooting at or from a motor vehicle resulting in injury, and criminal damage. Herrera, who police say is Lovato’s girlfriend, is charged with harboring or aiding a felon and reckless driving.
