Not a moment is wasted in Paul Greene’s day.

He uses each second to accomplish the many tasks set for him.

These days, the 44-year-old actor has been getting up at 6:15 a.m. and going hiking or playing volleyball on the beach. (His son, Oliver, is trying out for varsity volleyball).

“I create breakfast and lunch with him,” Greene says. “There’s a hike near us, and we did that this morning. We went to Trader Joe’s and stocked up on his favorite snacks. I’m also getting him ready for his driver’s test and creating games for him for his online school.”

Greene’s job as dad is constant, and he cherishes each moment.

When he takes a break from dad duties, viewers know him best for his role as Dr. Carson Shepherd from the Hallmark hit series “When Calls the Heart.”

The series is inspired by Janette Oke’s books about the Canadian West, and it revolves around Elizabeth Thatcher, played by Erin Krakow, who moves from the city to a small coal mining town in the West. Also starring Lori Loughlin and Martin Cummins, the show has accumulated a huge audience of loyal fans.

The sixth season will premiere at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, on Hallmark.

“Everyone is excited for the new season and there are a lot of newcomers to the adventure,” he says. “And some of these happenings threaten the relationships of those on the show.”

Playing Dr. Shepherd on the series has been interesting for Greene.

“I love things around nutrition and medicine and researching,” he says. “With the show, I have to work with what was available back in 1911. You begin to be grateful for living in today’s medicinal age. There are more treatments and cures. It’s been a great journey for my character on the show, as he’s had some very high stakes during the last season. Also Carson’s past has been a big obstacle to overcome.”

Born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Greene grew up on a farm, being taught the importance of family and structure.

Scouted from college, Greene started his modelling career at age 18 and immediately became a huge success, booking a national Levi’s commercial within his first week of modeling. He spent most of his 20s splitting his time modeling in New York, Paris, London, Milan, and Japan walking for Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, Tommy Hilfiger.

At 30 years old and with a 5-monthold son, he decided it was time to relocate to Los Angeles and start living his dream of acting.

He has since become the male face of Hallmark and stars in many films and is looking to make a move to New Mexico at some point.

“I’d love to be based out of there with a second home,” he says. “There’s so much production going on out there that it seems like it’s going to become a hub in the film and TV industry. I’m putting it out into the universe that a production in New Mexico will come my way.”
