Hawkeyes sneak past Indiana in overtime

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Jordan Bohannon hit three 3s in overtime, including one with 20.2 seconds left, and 21st-ranked Iowa rallied to beat Indiana 76-70 in overtime on Friday night for its fifth win in six games.

Tyler Cook had 18 points and Bohannon added 17 for the Hawkeyes (21-6, 10-6 Big Ten).

Juwan Morgan had 15 and Romeo Langford scored 14 points for Indiana (13-14, 4-12), which has dropped 12 of 13.

No. 25 BUFFALO 80, KENT STATE 57:

In Amherst, N.Y., Nick Perkins scored a career-high 27 points and the Bulls (24-3, 12-3 Mid-American Conference) routed the Golden Flashes (19-8, 8-6).

NMHU 103, METRO STATE 69: Mitchell Raquan and Gerad Davis scored 23 points apiece for New Mexico Highlands as the Cowboys (17-9, 12-8 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) routed the Roadrunner­s (10-14, 8-12).

No. 10 STANFORD 56, ARIZONA 54: In Stanford, Calif., Alanna Smith hit a 3-pointer with 34 seconds left and the Cardinal (22-4, 11-3 Pac-12) scored the final nine points of the game to beat the Wildcats (17-9, 7-9).

Stanford trailed 54-47 before Lacie Hull hit a 3-pointer to start the game-ending run with 4:10 left, ending a nearly five minute scoreless streak for the Cardinal. Smith then hit consecutiv­e 3-pointers to give Stanford the lead.

Aari McDonald, who scored 20 points for the Wildcats, missed two free throws with 17 seconds left, but Arizona had a chance when Destiny Graham stole the Cardinal inbound pass after Stanford called timeout. McDonald’s 3-point attempt at the buzzer went in and out preserving the Cardinal’s win.

No. 12 OREGON STATE 68, USC 61:

In Corvallis, Ore., Mikayla Pivec had 18 points and eight rebounds and the Beavers (22-5, 12-3 Pac-12) used a late run to beat the Trojans (15-11, 5-10).

Pivec’s jumper with 5:15 left in the fourth quarter sparked a 16-2 run that turned a seven-point deficit into a sevenpoint lead with 22 seconds to go. Aleah Goodman and Destiny Slocum highlighte­d the run with back-to-back 3-pointers — Goodman giving the Beavers the lead for good at 61-59 and Slocum pushing the lead to five with 32 seconds left.

BUTLER 61, No. 11 MARQUETTE 57: In Milwaukee, Tori Schickel scored six of her 19 points in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs (20-6, 10-5 Big East Conference) rallied past the Golden Eagles (22-5, 13-2).

CALIFORNIA 69, No. 17 ASU 60: In Berkeley, Calif., Kristine Anigwe and Recee’ Caldwell scored 20 points each, Asha Thomas added 18 and the Golden Bears (15-11, 6-9 Pac-12) ended a five-game losing streak in upsetting Arizona State (18-7, 9-5) and snapping the Sun Devils’ five-game winning streak. No. 24 DRAKE 66, EVANSVILLE 39: In Des Moines, Iowa, Sara Rhine scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds and the Bulldogs (20-5, 12-1 Missouri Valley Conference) used a big third quarter to pull away from the Purple Aces (3-22, 1-13).

Women’s state colleges

METRO STATE 101, NMHU 63: In Las Vegas, N.M., 24 points from Jordyn Lewis and 22 from Allyah George weren’t nearly enough for the Cowgirls (3-23, 2-18 RMAC) to prevent a lopsided loss to the Roadrunner­s (14-12, 13-7).
