Sunday: The Isotopes, trailing 4-1, put up four runs in the eighth inning and took a 5-4 victory over the Chihuahas in front of a crowd announced at 7,060. Sam Hilliard’s double scored Roberto Ramos and Josh Fuentes, trimming the deficit to 4-3. Hilliard then scored on Drew Weeks’ pinch-hit home run. James Pazos (1-0), the second of three Isotopes pitchers, hurled a scoreless eighth inning and got the win. Jairo Diaz got the save, his sixth. Catcher Dom Nuñez hit a solo home run for the Isotopes in the fifth inning.

Saturday: The Mariachis, the alter ego of the Isotopes, jumped on the visiting El Paso Margaritas early and often in a 12-2 win in front of an announced fireworks night crowd of 14,222. The Mariachis had 17 hits, including home runs by Pat Valaika and Yonathan Daza, who had a four-hit, three-RBI night. Starting pitcher Chi Chi
