Music on Old Town Plaza with the Alex Maryol Trio, playing indie, blues and rock, from 7-9 p.m.

“A Concert for Champions,” Roger Melone conducting the New Mexico Philharmon­ic in a star-spangled concert of American favorites, and a special appearance by this year’s Jackie McGehee Young Artists’ Competitio­n winners. ABQ BioPark Zoo Amphitheat­er, 903 10th SW. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., concert starts at 8 p.m. Admission is $55 for adults, $8 for students. Kids 12 and younger free. SUNDAY

Music on Old Town Plaza with Flambeaux, playing traditiona­l New Orleans jazz, from 1-3 p.m.

Memorial Day Ceremony at the New Mexico Veterans Memorial, 5009 Louisiana SE, from 9 a.m. to noon. Featuring a musical prelude by New Mexico’s only official American Legion band, the Dukes of Albuquerqu­e. Speakers will include Mayor Tim Keller and Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.

Rio Rancho

Memorial Day remembranc­e ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, 950 Pinetree Road SE, starting at 11 a.m. The ceremony will include the laying of a wreath to honor fallen veterans. Speakers will include Mayor Gregg Hull and various military personnel. For the first time, the ceremony will include a display of military boots representi­ng fallen service members — some with a personaliz­ed tag or portrait of a fallen soldier.

Bernalillo

Old-fashioned Memorial Day picnic to honor fallen heroes. Rotary Park, 370 Rotary Park Road., 10 a.m. to noon. Unveiling of the Mayoral Bricks from the 70th anniversar­y of the town’s inception. No entrance fee. Hot dogs and beverages provided.

Santa Fe

Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 North Guadalupe Street, Buffalo Soldier Ceremony, 2-3 p.m. to honor the African American soldiers who served with the U.S. Army unit, which was active 1866-1951.

Memorial Day Ceremony to honor fallen veterans, Santa Fe National Cemetery, from 10-11 a.m.

Angel Fire

Vietnam Veterans Memorial, 34 Country Club Road, starting at 6 p.m. with a Remembranc­e Vigil and a POW/MIA Missing Man Ceremony.

Flag March at intersecti­on of U.S. 64 and N.M. 434 starting at 9 a.m. Marchers will proceed up the hill to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial for a Memorial Day ceremony with music, starting at 10:30 a.m.
