Albuquerque is teaming up with the International Western Music Association-New Mexico Chapter for an Old Town event.

Western Family Day will be held on Saturday, June 22, at the Old Town Gazebo, according to the city’s event website. The event will feature performances by Randy Huston at 5:10 p.m., Holy Water & Whiskey at 6:10 p.m., and the Kristyn Harris Band at 7:10 p.m. on the Old Town gazebo.

Huston is a singersongwriter who writes songs about modern-day cowboy life. He is a fourthgeneration livestock producer and runs a ranch with his father in New Mexico, according to his website. Holy Water & Whiskey is made up of Bruce Washburne, Maggie Washburne and Scott Altenbach. The trio formed in 2003, performing bluegrass gospel, and has expanded to playing old folk songs that feature

tight harmonies, solid instrumentation and a cappella versions, according to the trio’s website.

Harris is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Texas. She received the Entertainer of the Year Award from the Western Music Association in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

She is the youngest person to receive the honor. Harris also competed on the 2018 season of the TV show “American Idol” and yodeled for the judges, according to her website.

In addition to the music, eventgoers can enjoy face painting and live art demonstrations during Western Family Day.

The city partnered with the International Western Music Association-New Mexico Chapter because of its commitment to provide opportunities for the expansion of Western music to a larger audience. The organization aims to introduce Western music and culture to children. It does this by offering performance venues where Western artists can be showcased in front of a variety of audiences. It also educates the public at events that are not associated with Western music, conducts educational programs at schools and provides resources on the internet for youths, according to its website.

Western Family Day is part of the ongoing Summer Music in Old Town Series. The live music performances will be held at the gazebo on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through July 28. For a full concert schedule, visit cabq.gov/ culturalservices/historicold-town/summertime-inold-town.
