Deputies arrested a 17-yearold boy in a shooting that left one man dead and two others injured early Thursday in the South Valley.

Angel Grado was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center Friday on an open count of murder and tampering with evidence in the shooting that took the life of Isaiah Villanueva, 20, and wounded Adelina Aragon, 18, and Samuel Garcia, 20, during a house party.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court, deputies identified a second shooter but he has not yet been charged.

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Felicia Maggard confirmed the arrest and said Aragon and Garcia were in stable condition.

Deputies responded to a shooting at a house in the 200 block of Quetzal SW, near Rio Bravo and Second, around 12:30 a.m. They found a crowd of people standing over Villanueva in the backyard as Aragon and Garcia lay nearby.

Villanueva was pronounced dead at the scene and Aragon and Garcia were taken to a hospital.

Multiple people at the scene, many between the ages of 14 and 16, told deputies the shooting sparked from a fight during a house party.

Deputies say some of the teens saw Grado showing off a pistol, with an extended magazine, during the party. Another young man with him was also armed.

Witnesses told deputies an argument broke out near the back of the house and ended with Grado and the other man firing several shots before fleeing.

According to the complaint, deputies arrested Grado at his house and he initially denied being involved in the shooting. Eventually, he told deputies he had gone to the party with the other young man and two women. Grado said both he and the young man had handguns.

Deputies say Grado told them an argument started over some other partygoers disrespecting women and the dispute moved to the patio.

Grado told deputies a group of men began punching him when he pulled out his gun and shot Villanueva before jumping a fence and getting into his car.

According to the complaint, Grado said he threw the gun out of the window as he was driving on Interstate 25.
