Publisher, editor to hold poetry writing workshop
AT BOOKWORKS: The Wingbeats Poetry Workshop is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 9. Dos Gatos Press publisher and editor Scott Wiggerman and David Meischen present a free monthly poetry writing workshop featuring writing prompts from their Wingbeats Anthologies. This month’s exercise is “The Syllabic: Discovery through Form,” Alfred Nicol’s exercise from Wingbeats II, presented by Scott Wiggerman.
The Bookworks Book Club meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10. July’s selection is “Norwegian by Night” by Derek Miller.
Poets Tina Carlson, Stella Reed and Katherine DiBella Seluja
will read and sign “We Are Meant to Carry Water” at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 13. In the weeks and months that followed the 2016 presidential election, these poets felt a need for strong female voices that could speak in a universal way. The result is this collaborative collection of poems addressing systemic patriarchy, misogyny and the marginalization of the immigrant.
