La Serenita Mexican Food, 504 Old Coors Rd. SW (Aug. 1) Immediate Closure
Due to the imminent health hazard of no hot water availability, and cold holding availability, facility is closed effective 8/1/2019. Facility must contact CHPD when all violations have been corrected and facility must pass reinspection prior to re-opening. Observed facility without cold holding availability at the time of inspection. Facility must have cold holding unit working holding food below 41° Fahrenheit prior to passing re-inspection. Observed food debris build up on counters and shelving in facility at the time of inspection. Instructed the PIC to remove debris and clean and sanitize all food contact surfaces and shelving prior to reopening. Observed facility has severe food debris build up on and below equipment at the time of inspection. Facility must remove debris clean and sanitize all surfaces prior to re-opening. Observed missing hood filter above stove at the time of inspection. Instructed pic to add filter prior to re-inspection.
Twisters #26, 5501 Montgomery Blvd. NE (July 29) Downgrade
Observed food employee fail to immediately clean hands and exposed portions of arms after engaging in activities that contaminate the hands such as reentering the kitchen area coming from outside the facility. Violation corrected on-site by informing/ observing person in charge (PIC) advise food employee to properly clean hands before handling ready to eat foods. Instructed the PIC to retrain employees on the requirement of when to wash hands as outlined in section 2-301.14 of the 2009 FDA Food Code. Observed a pan of churrro and pan of french toast stored uncovered and underneath the refrigeration unit where ice is built up. Instructed the PIC to cover all the food to prevent contamination from the ice build up in the reachin freezer. Observed the dishwasher sanitizer tested at 0 ppm Chlorine at the time of inspection. Instructed the PIC to stop using the dishwasher and start using the threecompartment sink to wash, rinse and sanitizer. Instructed the PIC that a complete invoice must be sent to the CHPD inspector when the dishwasher sanitizer is repaired and tested at the right parts per million. Observed bottle of window cleaner and a stainless polish cleaner stored in the front area with single service article such as drink cups at the time of inspection. Instructed the PIC to remove all the chemicals away from the single service article. Instructed the PIC that all chemicals must be stored separate from the single service items and the food. Observed the facility has no food thermometer at the time of inspection. Observed the only thermometer available is to measure the fryer oil temperature. Instructed the PIC to obtain a food thermometer. Observed tubs filled with sugar and corn starch with no label indicating what the food item is. Instructed the PIC to label all food items when stored in a different container other than the original container.
