Plans afoot for NM state parks
New Mexico State Parks announced state-wide improvement plans as part of its “Next Generation of Adventure” campaign.
Plans include installing wifi throughout the park system so staff can accept credit cards instead of only cash. The state parks will also upgrade facilities, improve trails, and add new cabins and water access.
The Friday announcement was made at Hyde Memorial State Park, which will soon have a solarpowered microgrid as part of the improvements.
State Parks is a division of the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department.
The parks will also add interpretive programs and partner with local communities to expand educational programming.
