SOCCER: Former defender Kate Markgraf has been named general manager of the U.S. women’s national team, U.S. Soccer announced Monday. Markgraf will oversee the search for a coach to replace Jill Ellis, who leaves in October.

MEDIA: Auburn University has named longtime broadcaster Andy Burcham to take over as the athletic department’s main play-byplay announcer for football, men’s basketball and baseball. He will replace Rod Bramblett, who died along with his wife in a wreck in May.
