‘Bucket List Tour’

Comedian, stuntman Steve-O checks off tricks from his to-do list

- BY ROZANNA M. MARTINEZ

From “Jackass” to stand-up, it may seem that Steve-O has done it all. But the stuntman and comedian still has a few tricks up his sleeve. His current show, the “Bucket List Tour,” makes a stop at Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel on Aug. 23 and 24. The show might be more than you bargained for, as Steve-O crosses off some stunts from his to-do list that he has not attempted before, including something he has termed “Sky-Jacking.” Audiences will see video that entails Steve-O skydiving naked with an added twist reserved for adult audiences.

“The show itself is a journey through this absurd bucket list of stuff, and after each bit I screen it,” he said. “It’s multimedia throughout, intermittently playing video clips which are so high-level in the vein of Jackass stupidity. Really, my contract requires that there be legal waivers posted around the venue saying by walking into the showroom that you acknowledge that you are going to see explicit and even X-rated (stuff).”

Steve-O is excited about the new material, so much so that it makes him anxious thinking about what he is going to next time around.

“I think this show, it gives me incredible anxiety about how to follow up this show,” he said. “And I’ve had that anxiety since I started this ‘Bucket List Tour.’ The anxiety has caused me to think and think and think and come up with a good amount of new stuff. I’m fairly confident that I’ve got another round in me, but the bar is high.”

Audiences who have followed SteveO’s career from his days on MTV’s show “Jackass” to now know he can take a beating. And he’s not finished. A stunt he performed for his current tour ended with his losing a large amount of skin.

“The stunt I did for the grand finale is one that resulted in me having skin grafts on 15 percent of my body,” he said.

“I really misjudged it. You know, all things considered, I am in a lot better shape than one might imagine. I mean, sure I’ve got terrible fake teeth and awful, regrettable

tattoos, but beyond that there’s not too much permanent damage. I mean I think that growing up, falling off a skateboard helps. There’s a certain physicality that came from my skateboarding, acrobatics and my clown career, and I think that being decades into this career that I think I’ve done a reasonably good job in most cases of picking my battles for high entertainment and low permanent debilitation.”
