Months after wrapping production in New Mexico, the “Breaking Bad” movie has an air date.

Netflix announced on Saturday that its television event, “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie,” will air on Oct. 11 on the streaming platform.

According to Netflix, the film reunites fans with Jesse Pinkman, played by Emmy Award winner Aaron Paul.

It follows Pinkman’s escape from captivity and Pinkman must come to terms with his past in order to forge some kind of future.

In November 2018, the project was announced to begin filming in New Mexico under the name “Greenbrier.”

Production took place in Albuquerque from November 2018 through February.

According to the New Mexico Film Office, the production employed about 300 New Mexico crew members, 16 New Mexico actors and approximately 450 New Mexico background talent.

Fans of the beloved series need not to worry as Vince Gilligan directed and wrote the film.

Gilligan is behind both “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul.”

Over the course of the six years — and 62 episodes — filming in New Mexico, “Breaking Bad” became a cultural juggernaut. Though the first two seasons saw an average of 1 million viewers, the final episode on Sept. 29, 2013, was seen by 10.28 million viewers.

With that success, the prequel, “Better Call Saul,” was ordered to series.

The movie is produced by Mark Johnson, Melissa Bernstein, Charles Newirth, Diane Mercer and Paul, in association with Sony Pictures Television.

This is the first project for Gilligan — who created “Breaking Bad” and co-created the spin-off, “Better Call Saul” — after signing a threeyear deal with Sony Pictures Television in July 2018.
