Arizona volcano gets a comprehens­ive study

AT BOOKWORKS: Gwen Waring will sign and talk about “The Natural History of the San Francisco Peaks” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25. The book tells the natural history of this northern Arizona volcano.

The Murderinos Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27.

This true crime book club is free and open to the public.

Megan McKenna will read and discuss “The Poor Save Us” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28.

This is a book of stories remembered and gathered from around the world over six decades. They are people stories, written and shared in gratitude to encourage others.

The book is a trio of stories about the ancient healing ways of the Southwest. Centered on life at various pueblos, the book opens with young Charlie, who tells his single mom he is worried about staying with her father, Grandfathe­r Joe, the storytelle­r.
