Michelle Wolf’s life on the road includes plenty of time in airports.

Today she’s in Tulsa, Oklahoma, waiting for a flight back home to California.

“When you do comedy, you go to weird places,” she says in a recent interview. “Comedians and politicians, we’re the only two groups that travel to every nook and cranny of the country. It’s not a bad town, just a little unfamiliar at the moment.”

Wolf is a quadruple threat. In addition to being a comedian, she’s a writer, producer and TV host.

She was the featured performer at the 2018 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and she’s a writer for “Late Night With Seth Myers” and “The Daily Show With Trevor Noah.”

Wolf will travel to New Mexico to perform four shows at The Stage at Santa Ana Star Casino on Friday, Sept.

13, and Saturday, Sept. 14.

“I’ve never been to New Mexico, and I don’t know how I escaped it,” she says. “I’ve read that there is a lot of good hiking there. Maybe I’ll get some time to check it out.”

Wolf is also excited about finishing taping her next comedy special.

Because of that, Wolf will be trying out new material at The Stage shows.

“When you work on something for so long, you get to a point where you have this list of jokes,” she says. “I never got to them, and I am excited now to be talking about something new. I’ll still have stuff from the special I just completed.”

Wolf spends her days looking at the news and taking in what’s happening in the world.

Although she was the featured performer at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2018, Wolf doesn’t do a lot of politics in her comedy.

“I do talk about life issues, and everything is political,” she says. “I talk about social issues and things that people are complaining about. The best part of comedy is being able to think about stuff in a different way.”

Although she’s on stage performing nearly every night, getting there is full of solitude.

It can be tricky to not let her mind wander, too.

“Sometimes a conversation will come to me while I’m running,” she says. “Usually, it’s just me writing and staring at a wall. There’s nothing really glamorous about it all, but I enjoy it.”
