The Houston Astros beat the Kansas City Royals 12-3 for their 98th victory of the season.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Wade Miley bounced back from two disastrous starts with six strong innings and Josh Reddick’s five hits included a two-run homer Sunday as the Houston Astros beat the Kansas City Royals 12-3, completing a three-game sweep.

Abraham Toro and Reddick each drove in three runs, Kyle Tucker banged a two-run homer and Yuli Gurriel’s solo shot was his 28th homer.

The Astros’ 98th victory tied them for tops in the majors with the New York Yankees, at 98-53.

DODGERS 3, METS 2: In New York, Jedd Gyorko came off the bench late and played a big role in rallying Los Angeles to a victory that damaged New York’s dwindling wild-card chances.

Gyorko scored the tying run in the eighth inning on Chris Taylor’s double and hit an RBI single off Seth Lugo (6-4) with two outs in the ninth to put the NL West champions in front. They moved four games ahead of Atlanta for the best record in the National League with 11 to play and closed within one game of the top mark in the majors.

The Mets dropped four games behind the Chicago Cubs for the second NL wild card to with 13 to go. BREWERS 7, CARDINALS 6: At St. Louis, Ryan Braun hit a go-ahead grand slam off Junior Fernández with two outs in the ninth inning, and Milwaukee beat St. Louis to keep up its playoff push by winning for the ninth time in 10 games.

Milwaukee remained one game behind the Chicago Cubs for the second NL wild card and closed within three games of the NL Central-leading Cardinals.

CUBS 16, PIRATES 6: In Chicago, star first baseman Anthony Rizzo was pulled from the game with a sprained ankle, putting a damper on Chicago’s victory.

Rizzo was injured fielding a bunt at first base in the third inning. He had to be helped off the field and could not put pressure on the leg. X-rays taken at Wrigley Field showed no fractures, and an MRI was scheduled for Monday.

The Cubs maintained their onegame lead over Milwaukee for the second NL wild card. The Nationals are 1½ games ahead of Chicago for the first wild card. BLUE JAYS 6, YANKEES 4: In Toronto, Dellin Betances made

his season debut for the Yankees, strengthening an already top bullpen.

Betances faced two batters and struck out both Sunday in New York’s loss to Toronto that ended a 10-game road trip, New York’s longest this season.

INDIANS 7, TWINS 5: At Cleveland, after getting rained out, beaten twice and nearly counted out, the Indians saved something from the weekend.

The Indians kept their faint hopes of winning the AL Central alive against Minnesota, which hit four more homers and tied a major league record with four players getting at least 30.

Roberto Perez’s three-run homer in the sixth off Kyle Gibson put the Indians ahead and they bounced back after dropping a doubleheader on Saturday that seemed to doom their postseason chances.

NATIONALS 7, BRAVES 0: In Washington, Aníbal Sánchez pitched seven sharp innings to help Washington avoid a threegame sweep against Atlanta.

Howie Kendrick homered and drove in three runs for Washington, which held its position atop the NL wild card standings, remaining 1½ games ahead of the Cubs and 2½ games in front of Milwaukee.

RED SOX 6, PHILLIES 3: In Philadelphia, Christian Vázquez homered twice, including his first career grand slam, and drove in a career-high five runs to lead Boston over Philadelphia.

The Red Sox catcher had gone without a homer for 13 straight games and had just one in 25 contests entering Sunday.

Vázquez put Boston ahead 5-1 in the third with his grand slam, a drive just over the wall in left on a 2-1, 71-mph curveball from Jason Vargas (6-8). ATHLETICS 6, RANGERS 1: In Arlington, Texas, Sean Manaea limited Texas to three singles over six scoreless innings, Marcus Semien became the third Oakland slugger with 30 homers and the A’s beat Texas for their sixth straight win.

ROCKIES 10, PADRES 5: In Denver, Ryan McMahon hit two home runs and drove in four to lead Colorado to a three-game sweep of San Diego.

Josh Fuentes also went deep and Chi Chi González got his first major league hit and RBIs in a short outing to help the Rockies win for the fifth time in the last seven games. GIANTS 2, MARLINS 1: In San Francisco, Mike Yastrzemski scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the eighth inning, Johnny Cueto pitched five scoreless innings in his second game back from Tommy John surgery and San Francisco beat Miami.

Suárez pulled into a tie for the major league home run lead at 47 with Pete Alonso of the New York Mets. The Reds did more damage to Arizona’s fading playoff hopes.

ANGELS 6, RAYS 4: In Anaheim, Calif., Albert Pujols hit a three-run homer off Ryan Yarbrough in the fifth inning and drove in four runs, leading Los Angeles over Tampa Bay to drop the Rays 1½ games behind Oakland for the top AL wild card.
