LOBO GAME: The good news is we made $1.1 million for our program and NBC correctly identified our school’s name and mascot, but on the other hand, I certainly would not have minded if NMSU was incorrectly associated with that 66 -14 final score via the national media. — George Scott

UNM AD Eddie Nuñez tweeted that the Lobos played at Notre Dame with “Heart and Determination.” Maybe so, but this isn’t youth football where everyone gets a ribbon. Notre Dame scored more points in a home season opener since their 1932 game with Haskell. The UNM secondary again got torched and there was no push along the offensive line to go with a bad choice at starting QB for this nationally televised game. Other than the $1.1 million check, there were no positives to take from this game (next season there will be two “money/body bag” games). — SSU Coach TO PUT D-1 New Mexico football in its proper perspective: NMSU and UNM had the dubious distinction of being out scored 186 to 31 by No. 20 Washington State, No. 2 Alabama and No. 7 Notre Dame. The nationally televised game was really painful to watch. On the flip side the two schools received 3.4 million dollars. How did the athletics departments at NMSU and UNM get to the point that necessitates selling their souls to the highest bidder? — North Valley Wally

I ENJOYED WATCHING the Lobos football team play on NBC despite the expected outcome, I’m sure it was an amazing experience for those guys. However, I had the unfortunate realization that the 77,622 in attendance is going to be greater than the actual head count for all home games combined! It is the fans that should be ashamed of themselves. — Danny

IS ANYONE REALLY surprised that Maryland lost to Temple? This IS coach Mike Locksley on the sidelines. It only took 3 games for Locks to get the Terps into mid season losing form with many more to follow. — Allan, ABQ, father of an attorney

(THIS WAS) only the 2nd week of NFL Football, but, one of the most important and best games of the year, the re-match of the NFC Championship game of last year, Saints vs. Rams, was not being shown here. Showing Denver and Chicago instead of New Orleans at Los Angeles, the most highly anticipated game today? I give up. Get it together Fox! Show us the best games, instead of always defaulting to Denver and Dallas! — Doug Priestap, Rio Rancho, Home of the Trump Traffic Debacle on 9/16
