Prize-winning poet to read works about climate change

AT BOOKWORKS: Poet Kyle Bello will read from “Refugia” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13. Winner of the inaugural Interim 2018 Test Site Poetry Series Prize, “Refugia” is a bright and hopeful voice in the conversati­on about climate change. Albuquerqu­e poets Demetria Martinez and Renny Golden will read from new and select works at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Poet Moná Toirésa Ó Loideáin will read “Rochelle, On the Brink of the Sea,” and Dennis Levering will read “Any Song Will Do” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16.

Join Connie for Story Time and an occasional craft and snack at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17.

Renato Rosaldo will read from “The Chasers,” a book of borderland­s poetry, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17.

Rosaldo’s new prose poetry collection shares his experience­s and those of his group of 12 Mexican American friends at Tucson High School known as the Chasers as they grew up, graduated, and fell out of touch.

James Magee will sign “Letters to Goya” at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.

James Magee and his art (in particular, “The Hill”) have been the subject of many articles in publicatio­ns, including Granta literary magazine and The Wall Street Journal.

AT TREASURE HOUSE BOOKS & GIFTS : Ronn Perea will sign his novel of the Albuquerqu­e in the middle third of the 20th Century, “Elsa & Elsie,” from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13.

During the mid-20th century, many historic events occurred in the American Southwest that shaped the lives of many families. This story brings to light those events and the people who changed the course of history.

Amy M. Bennett will sign “Fiesta of Fear” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.

Corrie Black, owner of the Black Horse Campground in Bonney County, New Mexico, has her hands full. She has offered to host the annual San Ignacio Church Fiesta at the campground, she’s helping her best friend deal with a missing ex-husband and troubled teenager, and she’s trying to keep the peace between the parish’s two most vocal members.
