SPORTS SPEAK UP!

THE JEWISH new year of 5780 was recently celebrated. The ALCS broadcasters decided to be multicultural and quoted Alex Bregman from his Bar Mitzvah. In English, not Hebrew. They said he was 11 years old. Bar Mitzvahs and Bat Mitzvahs are at age 13. This is why there is no Jock edition of Jeopardy!

THAT’S CORRECT, tarheelbill, Rocky Long did have a slight losing record while coaching at his alma mater, UNM. However we Lobo fans sure enjoyed those 5 bowl games in Las Vegas, San Francisco and Albuquerque. Not to mention UNM’s road wins over Missouri, Arizona, BYU and Utah while knocking off Urban Meyer. The field goal to beat Texas Tech as the clock struck zero? And how about the 70-7 demolition of San Diego State, the team he now coaches? The attendance records that still stand today? Rocky’s now the coach with the most wins in MWC history. Disappointment? Encore, please.

IT IS SO SAD to see how far the Lobo football program has fallen, after two years of optimism in 2015 and 2016. While AD Nuñez faced a most difficult decision to drop men’s soccer, I think the decision to cut Bob Davie loose after this season will be an easy one. He really has no choice.
