KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs will continue to split first-team reps in practice between Patrick Mahomes and backup Matt Moore this week, leaving open the possibility the league’s MVP could be back for Sunday’s game at Tennessee.

Mahomes has been out since dislocating his kneecap in a game against Denver on Oct. 17. He has yet to miss a practice but was ruled out for the Chiefs’ game against Green Bay, then was questionable last week against Minnesota before he was declared inactive on game day.

“It’s going to be day to day,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “He didn’t take a ton of reps last week. We’ll try to increase him a little bit and see how it works out. And we’ll keep you abreast as it goes, but right now that’s where we’re at.”

The Chiefs (6-3) have gone 2-1 with Moore at the helm, including the game he finished in Denver, which has allowed them to maintain their lead in the AFC West and keep pace in the race for a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the playoffs.

RAMS: Los Angeles receiver Brandin Cooks won’t play Sunday against Pittsburgh while he seeks further medical help for his second concussion in a month.

Cooks was ruled out by Rams coach Sean McVay on Wednesday in the wake of at least his fifth concussion during his six-year NFL career.

Cooks was hurt Oct. 27 during the Rams’ win over Cincinnati in London, and he has not cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol. He flew to Pittsburgh on Wednesday for the second time since his latest injury to meet with specialists.

FALCONS: Quarterback Matt Ryan was a limited participant in practice Wednesday and it is uncertain if he will start at New Orleans.

A sprained right ankle forced Ryan to miss his first game since 2009, snapping a streak of 163 consecutive starts, when Atlanta lost to Seattle two weeks ago.

“I’m feeling a little bit better every day,” Ryan said. “When you have something like this, you just try and focus on daily improvement and trying to get back to yourself as fast as possible.”

Atlanta is riding a six-game losing streak, its longest since coach Dan Quinn’s first season in 2015.

If Ryan can’t play, Matt Schaub will make his second straight start.

JETS: New York dodged an injury scare with Le’Veon Bell.

The star running back is a bit banged up, but the team is optimistic he’ll be able to play Sunday against the Giants.

Bell sat out practice Wednesday with ankle and knee soreness, a day after an MRI revealed no structural damage.

Bell was injured late during New York’s 26-18 loss at Miami on Sunday.

COWBOYS: Police in the Dallas suburb of Frisco say Cowboys defensive lineman Daniel Ross has been arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Frisco police Sgt. Evan Mattei said Ross was arrested Wednesday morning. He didn’t provide further details. The department didn’t respond immediately to a public information request.

GIANTS: New York’s leading receiver Evan Engram has a sprained left foot, and his status for Sunday’s game against the Jets is uncertain.
