What you need to know about Northern Arizona:

The Lumberjacks will make their season debut with a squad that looks quite similar to last season’s. Twelve players, including four starters, return although NAU lost standout forward Kaleigh Paplow, who led the team in scoring, rebounds and steals. Rasheed is the top returning scorer and rebounder for Payne, who prefers an up-tempo style. The Lumberjacks feature two outstanding 3-point shooters in Bailey (50 makes last season) and Malvar (47), but ball security can be a problem. NAU averaged 15.2 giveaways last season and had 19 in an 84-55 home loss to New Mexico. Rohrer, who sat out last season after transferring, was a standout at CSU Pueblo.

■What you need to know about New Mexico:

The Lobos stumbled out of the starting blocks in Tuesday’s season-opening win over UC Riverside, and Bradbury intends to make changes in the starting lineup for game two. Exactly what those changes will be remained to be seen as of Thursday as numerous players took first-team repetitions. Hurst and Howell appeared to be the only sure things. Regardless of who starts, UNM needs to improve its rebounding after being outworked on the glass by UCR. After scoring just eight points in the first quarter, the Lobos scored 72 over the final three quarters and seemed to find an offensive rhythm. Everett and Hosey scored 19 of their combined 26 points after halftime.
