■What you need to know about New Mexico:

The Lobos start Mountain West play with the league’s best record, highest RPI ranking (47) and second-highest scoring offense at 79.2 points per game (San Jose State averages 80.3). UNM was picked to finish second behind Boise State and has looked like a contender with impressive depth and versatility through seven games. The Lobos rank 10th nationally in forced turnovers (24.3 per game). Bradbury’s team is coming off its first loss, however, and has some issues to address. Rebounding has been inconsistent, and West Virginia clobbered the Lobos on the boards. Hurst ranks fifth nationally in 3-pointers made and has hit 50% of her attempts, but her teammates are shooting a combined 24.6% from long range.

■ What you need to know about Boise State:

The Broncos have played a difficult schedule that includes road losses at then-No. 5 Louisville and TCU, but it’s fair to say they haven’t hit their stride. The two-time defending MWC champs have lost at home to Missouri State and Washington State and have been vulnerable on the defensive end. Boise State’s last seven opponents have averaged 76.3 points per game. Still, Presnell’s teams typically raise their level of play when conference competition starts, and his roster is loaded. Hodgins is the preseason MWC Player of the year, Christopher leads the nation in assists, Lupfer ranks third in 3-pointers (30), and McGwire (a transfer from Oregon) provides a strong inside-outside scoring threat.
