SF ANIMAL SHELTER & HUMANE SOCIETY

Are you still social distancing from humans, but looking for companionship? There are many wonderful animals at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter who are looking for homes. Come meet Paco. He is a handsome pooch who currently weighs about 45 pounds and is about 2 years old. An ideal day for Paco would include a lovely long walk with his favorite person and lots of treats! He loves to play ball and will chase one for hours!

If a feline is more your style,

Cougar is a handsome 10-year-old shorthaired kitty. He came to us when his family was no longer able to take care of him and he is now ready to find a new home. Here at the shelter, Cougar has been sweet and is always seeking affection. Come in and meet him today!

These and other animals are available for adoption from the Santa Fe Animal Shelter at 100 Caja del Rio Road. The shelter’s adoption hours during the pandemic are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. daily and are by appointment only. To enquire about any of these pets and others for adoption, call the shelter at 983-4309 to schedule an appointment. See available animals and updated COVID-19 shelter policies at SFHumaneSociety.org.

You can also follow the shelter on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to make the news, most normal activities have either been postponed, cancelled or moved online. In preparation for the influx of baby animals arriving at the shelter’s door this spring, the shelter is holding its third annual “Kitten and Puppy Shower.” But, due to COVID-19, this year it will be a live virtual shower on the shelter’s Facebook page on Tuesday, May 5, from noon to 1 p.m. The virtual shower, titled “New Hope for New Lives,” will focus on all aspects of the shelter’s unique New Hope Program that helps find temporary and longterm homes for homeless animals. It specifically supports new kitten and puppy arrivals, those long-term resident animals that might need a break from shelter life, and animals in hospice that need a safe place to spend their last days in comfort.

Visit the shetler’s Facebook page on Tuesday for the live event. Also, donations can be made at SFHUmaneSociety.org or via the shelter’s Amazon wish list at bit.ly/

ESPAÑOLA HUMANE

Don’t feel like you have to selfisolate alone. There are still dogs and cats in need of human companions at Española Humane who would love to spend their lives with you. Moses saw Shelly, his dog buddy, loaded up into an Animal Control truck and he ran the entire way to the shelter, following his friend. This handsome dog is as loyal as they come! Moses also has one hind leg that is shorter than the other; shelter staff found an old fracture of his femur that healed on its own, but it caused that leg to grow slower than the other — it clearly doesn’t slow him down, though! Moses is 6 years old, neutered and microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and is available for adoption by appointment; submit an application on our website and staff will be in touch to schedule!

Hershey is an affectionate and amiable fella looking for his special someone to comfort during quarantine. He’s a talkative and handsome tabby who enjoys long chats, and he has a fabulous sense of humor. Hershey is, however, FeLV positive, so will need a home without other cats, or a buddy who is also FeLV positive.

During the time of COVID-19, all adoptions at the shelter are by appointment only. To see more adoptable pets, log on to www. espanolahumane.org or www. petango.com. Fill out an application online or call 505-753-8662.
