Governor fills four judicial positions

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has appointed four judges to fill judicial positions created by the Legislature this year.

Lucy Boyadjian Solimon and Clara Marissa Moran were appointed to the 2nd Judicial District Court in Bernalillo County, the Governor’s Office announced Thursday in a news release.

Kathleen McGarry Ellenwood was appointed to the 1st Judicial District — which covers Santa Fe, Rio Arriba and Los Alamos counties — while Casey Bruce Fitch was selected to the 3rd Judicial District Court in Doña Ana County.

Solimon has been the New Mexico Workers Compensation Administration enforcement bureau chief since 2018, after serving as a special assistant U.S. attorney for Laguna Pueblo. She was born in Lebanon to Armenian parents and graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2007.

Moran has worked in the state Attorney General’s Office since 2015, before that, she spent 10 years at the 2nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office. She is an Albuquerque native and a 2005 graduate of the UNM School of Law.

Ellenwood has been an attorney associate in the 1st Judicial District Court since 2018. She is an Ohio native and has lived in Glorieta since 2001.

Fitch has worked as a law clerk for the U.S. District Court of New Mexico since 2017. He is also an Albuquerque native and earned his law degree from Seattle University in 2003.

Lujan Grisham has yet to fill a new judgeship in the 12th Judicial District encompassing Lincoln and Otero counties.
