“Roswell, New Mexico” is in full swing. The New Mexico Film Office announced that the CW series is in production.

It will film in Santa Fe, Las Vegas, Albuquerque and Madrid through April 2021.

“Roswell, New Mexico” is based on the “Roswell High” book series, written by Melinda Metz.

It stars Jeanine Mason, Nathan Dean, Michael Vlamis, Lily Cowles, Tyler Blackburn, Heather Hemmens, Michael Trevino and Amber

Midthunder.

The first two seasons also filmed in New Mexico.

“‘Roswell, New Mexico’ Season

3 is injecting thousands of dollars into the New Mexico economy, as well as employing hundreds of New Mexican crew members,” Economic Development Secretary Alicia J. Keyes said. “It’s great to have Warner Bros. and the entire team back for a third season of the show.”

For years the Film Office has pushed itself to the front when it comes to TV series.

Long-running shows, such as “Roswell, New Mexico,” create a stability within the local film industry.

“New Mexico’s treasure trove of locations and large, talented crew base supports television shows like ‘Roswell’ to return and shoot season after season in our beautiful state,” said Amber Dodson, New Mexico Film Office director.

Thursday, the New Mexico Film Office hosted “The New Mexico Film Scene.” The virtual series is intended to keep New Mexicans updated with projects, as well as what the office is up to.

According to the office, three productions have been announced

in the past month: the Netflix film “The Harder They Fall,” Amazon’s “Them: Covenant,” and “Roswell, New Mexico.”

The local economic impact from those productions is already being felt.

“The Harder They Fall” will employ about 500 New Mexico crew members and 312 New Mexico vendors, including background actors, stunt performers, and principal talent. This production is gearing up to start again after having a COVID-19 case.

Meanwhile, “Them: Covenant” filmed one episode and employed about 250 New Mexico crew members, eight New Mexico principal actors and 50 New Mexico extras.

“Roswell, New Mexico” will employ 275 New Mexico crew members and 2,200 New Mexico background workers and extras.

“That’s quite a lot of employment,” Jennifer Esquivel, the Film Office’s senior manager for marketing and communications, said during the virtual series.
