Anna Louise (Worrell) Anderson
ALBUQUERQUE - Anna Louise (Worrell) Anderson, age 86, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on December 29, 2020.
“Annie”, as she was called by her family, was born at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C. on March 28, 1934. Her father, Edgar Worrell, and mother, Rebecca (Green) Worrell lived in the VA/D. C. area, including Ft. Myers, VA. Annie and her sister, Nancy S. Worrell, rode the Army school bus to attend grade school in Georgetown. After a long separation from their father during the War, the family moved to Munich, Germany in 1949, then to Berlin for two years where Annie graduated from the American High School, 110 miles “behind the Iron Cur tain.” In 1952, she returned to the States to attend the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, class of ‘56.
In 1955, Ann married Army Captain William F. Macatee. They had three children - Bill Macatee, Jr. (Sonya), Rebecca Rozell (Don), and Elizabeth Foley (Michael). Annie dearly loved her children and was a stay-at-home Mom until 1968. Her youngest child went to school and Annie became a Real Estate Broker in TX and NM was was licensed in CA. As a military daughter and wife, Ann had already spent many years traveling the world, so she had a good understanding of people and was a natural leader. Her goal was to help others. During her 40-year career, and with God’s help, she was able to achieve her goal, helping others be successful. In 1983, Ann married Donald (Don) Wayne Anderson, a leading businessman in El Paso, TX. They decided they wanted to spend more time together, so they became partners in real estate. They worked together for 25 years. Don and his first wife, Barbara, also had three children - Roger Anderson, Karen Anderson, and Ron Anderson (Jennifer). Now, Annie had three wonderful step-children. The family continued to grow with the birth of granddaughters, Caitlin Macatee and Halen Anderson and grandsons, Beau Anderson and Dylan Foley.
Annie loved all her family so much!
During her career, Ann server as President of the El Paso Board of Relators. She was also the first woman Broker on the TX Broker-Lawyer Commit-tee, which is the group made up of six TX Real Estate Brokers and six TX Lawyers responsible for writing and promulgating real estate contracts and other forms and addenda used in real estate transactions in TX. She also taught many classes for the REALTOR Institute, whose graduates received their GRI (Graduate REALTOR Institute) designations. She had also earned the Certified Real Estate Brokerage (CRB) designation. She wrote articles for “Today’s REALTOR” magazine and she was chairman of the Education Committee for the Texas Association of Realtors (TAR).
Ann gave us the gift of empathy and love; she taught us a love of life experiences and travel; and she showed us that a woman really can do it all (and do it all well). She was the light of every room she walked into and she taught us that love always wins. We love you, Annie. Please fly high and free with the Angels.
