Program offers retraining assistance for unemployed
Laid off, unemployed and dislocated workers are now eligible for thousands of dollars in tuition assistance for retraining programs via a partnership among Workforce Connection of Central New Mexico, Central New Mexico Community College and CNM Ingenuity.
Eligible applicants can receive up to $9,000 in tuition assistance and up to $15,000 if they pursue “stackable credentials,” such as taking a program and a related industry licensure training, a CNM news release said. The money can be used for a wide variety of programs including:
Phlebotomy ■
Residential HVAC ■
Child development certificate ■
Public safety dispatch ■
Lineworker pre-apprentice ■
Digital marketing certificate ■
Medical office receptionist ■
Dietary manager ■
CNM’s Deep Dive Coding Bootcamps ■ The program is funded by $1.1 million in National Dislocated Worker grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor in the fall, according to CNM spokesman Brad Moore.
