Program offers retraining assistance for unemployed

Laid off, unemployed and dislocated workers are now eligible for thousands of dollars in tuition assistance for retraining programs via a partnershi­p among Workforce Connection of Central New Mexico, Central New Mexico Community College and CNM Ingenuity.

Eligible applicants can receive up to $9,000 in tuition assistance and up to $15,000 if they pursue “stackable credential­s,” such as taking a program and a related industry licensure training, a CNM news release said. The money can be used for a wide variety of programs including:

Phlebotomy ■

Residentia­l HVAC ■

Child developmen­t certificat­e ■

Public safety dispatch ■

Lineworker pre-apprentice ■

Digital marketing certificat­e ■

Medical office receptioni­st ■

Dietary manager ■

CNM’s Deep Dive Coding Bootcamps ■ The program is funded by $1.1 million in National Dislocated Worker grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor in the fall, according to CNM spokesman Brad Moore.
