SPORTS SPEAK UP!
I THINK OUR governor is enjoying her role as a puppeteer regarding UNM Athletics. She is the only governor in America to not allow collegiate athletic teams to practice or play games in their home states. As for giving New Mexico United a special exemption to practice in-state while having the team’s owner on her Economic Recovery Council, in any other state, wouldn’t that be called a “conflict of interest”? Unfortunately it’s become a UNM vs. NM United situation. Are UNM, Albuquerque and New Mexico going to allow themselves to get flattened by “Somos Unidos”? — Lobo Town

decision by MLG to continue to keep our student athletes out of state … (a)ctually causing students to discontinue participation because of the asinine policy. Hypocritical to allow NM United different regulations. Didn’t know the virus could differentiate between professional and amateurs. Probably why our Gov. didn’t get the Cabinet Health and Human Services position, treating our own people in such an illogical and unjust fashion. Bring our kids home!

DOES NMSU not realize that the WAC is a joke, even with a few more nobody schools? The only thing more laughable is NMSU’s insistence that it continue to play FBS football. NMSU has the worst FBS football program in the nation. There is a reason no league wants it. It’s time for it to drop down to the FCS level. The people who make the decisions at NMSU are living a fantasy. — Blake Gumprecht, Alamo, New Mexico
