Taylor shoots 62, leads by 2

HONOLULU — Nick Taylor pitched in for eagle to get his round headed in the right direction, and he kept going until he finished with an 8-under 62 and a two-shot lead Friday halfway through the Sony Open.

THOMAS LOSES SPONSOR: Ralph Lauren Corp. said Friday it is ending its sponsorship with Justin Thomas after he was heard muttering a homophobic slur to himself after missing a putt last week at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii. Ralph Lauren said it was “disheartened” by his language. Thomas has worn the company’s clothing since he turned pro.
