■ Congress stepped up Capitol security Thursday after their impeachment vote and with the inauguration ceremony coming up. The next day, the Capitol building was surrounded by concertina barbed wire, which makes you wonder if Trump won after all. He locked them up!
■ California health officials were on TV news sounding the alarm that the state’s COVID toll reached a record number for a fourth straight day. Herd immunity can’t be far off. Like all other baby boomers, I’ve reached the age where I’d better choose an illness I like before I get assigned one.
■ The Wall Street Journal reports the FBI is working all hands on deck to make sure Joe Biden’s swearing-in ceremony is incident-free. Biden will be inaugurated president at noon Wednesday outside the U.S. Capitol. It’s the moment every Civil War reenactor has been practicing for his entire life.
