Cal Deater

On 1/11/21 my dear husband Cal Deater transitioned into his next adventure after losing a long and brave battle with leukemia. Cal and I met playing bassoons and shared a life of loving music, God and God’s creation and children. He patiently drove me around so I could photograph God’s creation and he set up all the art shows I was in. While he loved playing guitar for all the Sunday School kids at Unity Spiritual Center he also joined me in mentoring refugee kids all the while being a great special ed teacher and assistant. His students were lucky to have him. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Reinhardt Cox and his father Lee Deater. He is survived by his wife Judy and 2 brothers: Dave Deater Reinhardt and his wife Pat living in Connecticut and Andy Rinehart and his wife Gina living in New York. Cal is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews living all over the country. Son, brother, husband, friend, musician, teacher, mentor, nature lover and child of God I miss Cal and the life of love and faith we shared. A celebration of life service is being planned.
