Marilyn Sue Hope flew home on the wings of angels on Sunday, January 3, 2021, surrounded by her family. Born in Oklahoma City in 1946, she lived a life full of love and adventure. She loved travel, quilting, her dogs and her family. Her dedication to her faith and church family always brought her comfort and joy. She was a staunch Oklahoma Sooner but finished her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of New Mexico. She loved her work as coordinator for UNM’s Elder Hostel. She was a substitute teacher for APS and then took on a role in special education before retirement. Travel was a passion. She traveled all over the United States and made many trips to England, France, Mexico, and Italy. Quilting was an interest in the last few years, but she was always good with creating things - stained glass, sewing, woodwork, pottery, and jewelry. She leaves two daughters, Wendy Fronterhouse and husband Ben Lucero, Marsha FronterhouseSohn and husband James Sohn, and four grandchildren, Breyanna and Dax Lucero, Elijah and Genevieve Sohn. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother. She was a joy to her friends and family. She will be greatly missed but always remembered. Services are pending and a date will be announced. In lieu of flowers, she would be honored if friends would leave a donation to Watermelon Mountain Ranch. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho, 3906 19th Ave SE, 87124.
