SPORTS SPEAK UP!

I AM SO SICK of the “woke” culture. Ralph Lauren cancelling Justin Thomas’s endorsement is the latest example of somebody’s feelings may have been hurt. Nobody that has ever played golf has not said something inappropriate or offensive to somebody. I’ve bought my last overpriced Polo golf attire. I’ll try to be extra careful today at the golf course so as to not offend man nor beast. I hope I don’t miss a 3 footer or all bets are off.

TO THE AGGIE HATERS like Blake Gumprecht who want NM State football to go away, it’s not going to happen. NM State, the fiscally responsible D-1 program in NM, is a survivor. The football program will endure as an independent and is poised for FBS conference admission. As for the rest of the Aggie programs, they will thrive in the fortified WAC.

THE ILLOGICAL AND devastating effect of the governor’s ill advised COVID policy as applied to college athletics continues to make New Mexico a laughing stock of the collegiate sports world. The teams should be evaluated for their compliance, not tying it to the general populations. Please, Governor, for the love of Mike, allow OUR teams to compete. If you want to know how why UNM basketball is struggling, try developing a team when you cannot play 5 on 5 for 7 months.

OUR QUEEN GOVERNOR is just as nuts as our President! … Bring our basketball teams home! Otherwise you go with them and experience what they’re having to endure. — MAP

WE FEEL YOUR pain, youngsters. Round and round and round the UNM/NMSU athletes’ vagabond carousel goes (Las Vegas, Nevada, Levelland, Texas, Houston, Lubbock, Texas, St. George, Utah, Canyon, Texas, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Logan, Utah, Tucson, Phoenix. — where it stops, not even MLG knows.

THE NMAA IS planning on starting their fall football season starting in February. I’m not sure this is in their cards but with the governor New Mexico has, they better send the school’s teams to neighboring states to practice and play.

I HAVE TO GIVE credit where credit is due. DeVonta Smith and Alabama steamrolled my Buckeyes. Kudos to Coach Saban and the Tide. They are clearly the best team in college football and maybe one of the best ever. See ya’ next year. — Buckeye Dan
