Suspicious item forces SF road closure
Amid concerns of possible civil unrest at state capitals on President Joe Biden’s inauguration day, law enforcement temporarily shut down a section of Paseo de Peralta near the state capitol Wednesday due to a suspicious item, which turned out to be an “unattended fire extinguisher.”
Traffic in both directions on Paseo de Peralta was briefly closed from East de Vargas Street to Don Gaspar.
According to police, residents in the area were told to shelter in place out of an “abundance of caution.”
It appeared police were paying attention to an area near a dumpster in a parking lot a couple hundred yards east of the Roundhouse.
