Harold Medina

Medina has a long history with APD and stepped in as interim police chief after former Chief Michael Geier was told to retire.

Medina joined the department in 1994 and moved up the ranks from a patrol officer to commander of the southwest district and property crimes in 2014. Afterward, Medina left APD to serve as chief of the Laguna Pueblo Police Department for three years before Mayor Tim Keller appointed him deputy chief at APD.

During his time with the department, Medina won a handful of commendati­ons for officer of the month and officer of the year.

A Taos native, Medina received a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico in 1994 with a major in biology and minor in criminolog­y.
