RIP HENRY “the Hammer” Aaron — the true home run king and a great guy!

— Hunchback Jimmy

WHAT A SHAME that MLB has once again missed an opportunity to do the right thing. “Hammerin’ Hank” should be the undisputed all time home run leader. He never spoke about it. Way, way to class an act for that. Just as with Roger Maris, you’ve waited too late to set the record straight. MLB should have acted years ago when the steroids scandal stained the game. Do it now, do it before his memory has faded. RISP Henry.

CONGRATULATIONS to Carli Lloyd for standing up for freedom of speech. Thank you.

NOW (THE GOVERNOR) decides it’s OK for the Lobos to come home? What was she waiting for, for the case numbers to go from terrible to horrendous? Would someone please explain the logic?

GOV. LUJAN GRISHAM tossed UNM a few table scraps which allows its athletic teams to practice in Albuquerque. But she remains the country’s only governor to not allow its collegiate teams to play games in-state, even in a virtually empty arena. Why? Any team coming to New Mexico is also tested for COVID-19 three times per week. This announcement does not bode well for New Mexico’s high school athletes as it appears as though they will not be able to compete this spring semester, which ends the careers of the seniors. Now that’s one bitter pill to swallow.

NICE TO HAVE UNM and NMSU student athletes back home, but rationally speaking there is no reason to be sending our kids on the road for home games. There are no fans in the stands. For economic, social emotional and safety purposes it stands to reason to play in the Pit and Pan-Am Center. Go Lobos and Aggies.

UNM WOMEN’S basketball players Antonia Anderson and Jaedyn De La Cerda recently had great games vs UNLV, with Antonia scoring a career-best 29 points and De La Cerda doing her fellow New Mexicans proud with 28 points. Maybe these players could give the struggling men’s team some “pointers” as to how to shoot the basketball.
