Corinne Avery

Corinne Avery, age 98, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 19, 2021. Corinne was born in Crosbyton, Texas on April 16, 1922 to Steve and Dora Freeman. She and her family moved to Ima, New Mexico when Corinne was in elementary school. She attended the one-room schoolhouse at Ima, as well as at House, New Mexico before graduating from high school at Forrest, New Mexico. She met her future husband Robert Avery in her father’s general store at Ragland, New Mexico in the spring of 1939, and they were married on December 30, 1939 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. They moved to Albuquerque in 1960 where Corinne continued as the homemaker and Bob eventually became a realtor working with Allied Century 21 Realtors until he retired. They were members of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church since 1974. Corinne was preceded in death by her parents and Bob. Corinne is survived by son Bill Avery and wife Karen, son Kelly Avery and wife Jo, grandchildren: Laurel Cummings, Denise Moore, Jason Avery and wife Jenifer, Jennifer Avery and Chris Avery and twelve great-grandchildren. A family graveside service will be held at a future date in Tucumcari. Memorial contributions honoring Corinne may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87111.
