Topgolf moves closer to opening in ABQ

-

Topgolf, a golfing entertainment venue, is readying to open its first Albuquerque location in the near future, according to a spokeswoman with the company.

The company has not yet released its opening date, but food and drink permits and a certification of occupancy have been issued by city departments, according to city spokeswoman Maia Rodriguez.

Construction for the entertainment venue, located at Interstate 25 and Montaño, began in 2018 and was partly funded with a $4.3 million incentive package from city and county governments.

At that time, the company said the project will create 132 fulltime positions and 200 part-time positions.

While other sources of entertainment are currently closed due to the current health orders, Topgolf’s classification as an outdoor recreational facility will allow it to operate at 25% capacity under the current Red to Green framework. The venue will be able to operate at 50% capacity once Bernalillo County reaches the green level.

In addition to golfing-based games, Topgolf also has food and a full bar.
