Great job, but what about no-shows?

BRAVO FOR the N.M. Department of Health and all its staff and volunteers. My wife and I got our first injections of the vaccine — I at Expo NM, she at The Pit — and the process in both places was efficient, friendly and flawless. We registered online, made appointments and received multiple text appointment reminders in the days before the appointments. Excellent work, DOH!

We were horrified to learn that hundreds of people have failed to show up for their appointments. Probably DOH already has a plan for dealing with this, but if not, we wonder if a “standby list” could be created for people willing to wait in their cars at these venues for a call or text in the event that a vaccine becomes available when someone fails to show up for their appointment.
