Alicea was a 4th generation New Mexican and grew up in Albuquerque’s North Valley with a large, extended family from both parents. She and her sisters spent summers and Christmases with their cousins, grandparents, and aunts and uncles in Roswell, Kenna, and Santa Fe. In 1985, her daughter, Kelleen, was born and her son, Joseph was born in 1990. For many years, along with her sisters, brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews, they played, vacationed, and worked together, creating wonderful times and lifelong memories. In 2011 she became Grandma and was fortunate to be a part of Amelia, Alexander, and Kinsley’s lives, along with Kelleen and her much loved son-in-law, Shawn. Alicea graduated from Valley High School in 1977 and worked in banks and then as an Office Manager for her sister’s insurance agency. The last four years she worked at Mortgage Authority Agency; very much enjoying her role and making new friends. Alicea was a member of the “50 and older” Silver Gloves softball team who also became family to her and provided the opportunity to travel. Alicea was a single mom, doting grandmother, and had a generous heart, stopping to help to a stranger in need. She will be remembered as a hardworking, extremely stubborn, and very independent woman who did things her way and was loved by her family and friends who will miss her. No services are planned; cremation will take place and her ashes will be scattered according to her wishes. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
