Daniel Sean Lopez

-

It is with sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved son and brother Daniel Sean Lopez. He was born December 3, 1981 and died January 24, 2021.

Daniel had the warmest smile. Daniel was the most caring, kind, and empathetic person. He was intelligent, curious, honest, and always thinking out of the box. He loved his nephew and niece and often helped care for them during the pandemic by teaching them drawing, folding origami with them, and reading them stories. He loved his dog, Twinkle, and often walked her at the Rio Grande Nature Center. He introduced his brother Samuel to many new things. From the wonderous escapism found in books and video games to the interesting hobby of keeping tarantulas. He was always a source of new ideas and a shoulder to lean on.

He studied any topic that interested him, including landscaping. He was an artist, naturalist, environmentalist, and philosopher. He constructed many projects using xeriscape and permaculture techniques such as no-till gardening, composting, and rainfall harvesting. Japan fascinated him, and he studied Japanese for many years. He treasured his experience attending a language school in Japan for several months.

Daniel is survived by his mother Daryl Lopez, father Ernie (Eve) Lopez, sister Angelina (Nathan, children Andrew and Miriam) Lopez-Brody, stepsisters Amber (Arnulfo) Lopez and Octavia Jobst, and brother Samuel T. Lopez. Also, by his grandmothers Delia Lopez and Connie Florez, and many other relatives. Grandparents John and Eileen Panowski, Dave Florez and John S. Lopez preceded him.

Daniel will be cremated. No service is planned until after the pandemic is over. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Friends of the Rio Grande Nature Center in Albuquerque or crisis intervention causes.
