Robert Earl Morris
Robert Earl Morris, 84, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, January 11, 2021. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Ben and Jessie Morris of Espanola, New Mexico on April
19, 1937. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Janet Kay Morris, his children Stephanie Morris, Robert E. Morris Jr., Steve Morris, Yvonne Morris, Bonny Prince, Craig Spooner, 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, and a new great grandchild on the way, plus his nephew Mark Kaune and additional nieces and nephews. He attended the University of New Mexico before joining the FBI in Washington, D. C. When he returned to
New Mexico, he was instrumental in starting First Northern Savings and Loan in Taos. Under his leadership as President and Chief Executive Officer the savings and loan expanded to Espanola, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque, later taking the name, New Mexico Federal Savings and Loan. He also had a prestigious career in the mortgage banking business until his retirement and was greatly respected by all his colleagues. He loved his family, friends, fishing, tennis, baseball, horse racing and his many wonderful cats and dogs (especially Molly). He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and, uncle -- he will be greatly missed by all.
