Melba Ruth (Winter) Clark,

88, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM, died on Sunday, January 10, 2020 at the Aegis Assisted Living Home in Phoenix, AZ.

Melba was born on August 8, 1932 in Montgomery County, MO, to Edwin Simon Winter and Alma Malinda (Wehrman) Winter. She grew up on the family farm in rural Montgomery County, and graduated from Montgomery City High School with honors. Her passion for music grew through her involvement in the Happy Ramblers singing group and playing Saxophone in the High School marching band. She worked in Montgomery City, prior to marring Melvin Dale Clark on August 9, 1953 in Buell, MO. Together they lived in Kennewick, WA and in Colombia, MO before settling in Albuquerque NM where she lived from 1958 until 2019.

Melba worked as a Medical Librarian at the University of New Mexico and at St. Joseph’s Hospital. After 23 years of dedicated service with St Joseph’s Hospital, she retired. She was proud of her career, and her grandchildren often told her she was the internet before the internet existed.

Melba was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, neighbor, and friend. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and played the organ at her local church for many years. She loved traveling, spending time with family and friends, tending her roses, reading, and playing the organ.

Melba is survived by her oldest son, Kevin Clark and his wife, Mary, of Sunderland, MD; daughter, Cyndy Milligan of Albuquerque, NM, and youngest son, Bruce Clark and his wife, Kathleen, of Tempe AZ. She had seven grandchildren; Alicia Weisenberger, Scott Clark, Alan Clark, Bryna Milligan, Jacob Milligan, Kelly Clark and Connor Clark; and four great-- grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Fred Winter of Albuquerque, NM, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Melba was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Winter and Alma Winter; brother, Harvey Winter and his wife, Mary Elizabeth; sister, Verna Davis and her husband, John Davis, and sister-in-law, Anne Winter.

Melba was a kind soul. She loved to laugh and was adored by all. We will dearly miss her, and she will be in our hearts forever.

Interment of Melba’s cremains will be in the Montgomery City Cemetery, MO. where memorial services will be scheduled at a future date, when COVID restrictions are lifted. In the meantime, please enjoy this on-line photo memorial (https://tinyurl. com/MelbaClark).
